Each of these programs is highlighted in their own websites with information about faculty, courses, research, and other activities. CSCI produces graduates who have the highest earning potential of any major in the University. This is true because of the great demand for graduates in these disciplines. Our undergraduates are offered jobs which range in salary from the high $40 thousands to the high $70 thousands. Graduates of our Master’s program fare even better.

Mission Statement
The mission of the Department of Computing Sciences (CSCI) is to prepare students to pursue advanced degrees and productive careers in computer science, engineering technology, or geographic information sciences and to carry out scholarly investigations that enrich the educational experience of the students. In addition, CSCI seeks to promote excellence in all endeavors and diversity in both its student population and faculty.
Research Goals
The Department’s research-related goals are to:
Conduct basic and applied research at the forefront of human knowledge,
Provide technical expertise and leadership to the Coastal Bend Region of Texas, and
Support the research efforts of the University as a whole.
Academic Goals
The Department’s academic goals are to graduate individuals who are:
Technically competent,
Cognizant of their ethical responsibilities as professionals, and
Aware of technical issues and potential consequences in contemporary society.
